New to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?

Stepping onto the mats for the first time can feel intimidating. Here is everything you need to know before attending your first session at Raijin BJJ Hanoi.

What is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art and combat sport focused on grappling and ground fighting. It is rooted in the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themselves against a larger, stronger attacker by using leverage, proper technique, and taking the fight to the ground.

Unlike striking arts, BJJ does not rely on punches or kicks. Instead, it utilizes joint locks and chokeholds to subdue an opponent, making sparring safe to practice at full intensity.
